Urban legends have two important characteristics – they’re incredibly intriguing and more often than not, they’re not true. Sex is a topic that will always get spoken about, hence the number of urban legends about it is spectacular.
The following list compiles some of the most popular legends that we hope you’re going to enjoy (while also taking them with a grain of salt!).
The Sex Bracelets
You’ve probably heard this one and it’s totally ridiculous.
The so-called gel bracelets have long been popular among teenagers. They appeared in the 2000s and by 2003, an urban legend about them had already been created.
The legend stated that people who wore gel bracelets were willing to engage in an array of sex acts. The color of the bracelet itself indicated what type of naughty deed the owner was interested in. Getting to do the dirty deed was all about pulling the bracelet from the hand of its wearer.
Eventually, the prominence of the myth grew so much that gel bracelets got banned in several schools. Media jumped on the bandwagon, explaining the meaning of each color.
They even went a step further – telling the world that certain kinds of bracelets were used to gain access to sex parties. Obviously, all of this was made up and the innocent bracelet had become infamous for no reason at all.
The Average Penis Size Is Eight To 10 Inches
This urban legend is so harmful and it has made dozens of guys feel inferior because of what nature has given them.
According to people who believe in the legend, the average length of the erect penis is in the range from eight to 10 inches. Medical studies, however, paint a completely different picture. Research suggests that the average length of the erect penis of the US male is 5.5 inches.
The number is very, very, very far off from what the typical social expectation is. This is somewhat understandable – some guys exaggerate, some base their expectations on what’s being depicted in adult movies.
Know this – if you feel inferior because of your penis size, you probably have no reason to worry. Chances are that you’re comparable to most guys out there.
Also, women don’t put a lot of emphasis on size but rather on how the “tool” is being used. Finally, if you still feel inferior, there are things you can do. The use of male enhancement exercises, supplements and traction devices can contribute to a penis size increase without health risks.
Mint Peppers And Stimulation?
Cosmopolitan and other girly magazines are filled with all kinds of ridiculous suggestions that are aimed at making sex better and giving partners more pleasure.
One of the very prominent tips is to have a mint before engaging in oral sex. The mint results in a tingling sensation that makes the experience much more pleasurable for the receiving partner.
If you’ve tried it, you probably have an opinion about the technique and there have been dozens of articles written by guys who got intrigued in the myth.
Some men report that initially, the sensation is good. Eventually, however, the mint oil could start producing a burning sensation. Obviously, nobody wants to feel that on their genitals.
If you want to try it, you should definitely go ahead. You’ve been warned however! Try with one mint instead of popping a dozen in your mouth and if your partner doesn’t like it, stop what you’re doing immediately.
The Broken Penis
Not only is this an urban myth, it’s also a ridiculous one.
We’ve all heard about trauma during intense sex but some of this trauma simply cannot happen. Take the broken penis myth, for example. There are people out there who actually believe a penis can be broken whenever the girl is on top and if things get to be heated.
We hate to remind everyone of basic biology but there’s no bone inside the penis of a man. Thus, there is nothing that could get fractured during sex.
The penis can really be injured if a partner who’s on top is a bit too rough or if their weight lands on the wrong spot. A corpus cavernosum rupture may occur during an erection.
A man who is soft cannot experience this kind of trauma. The symptoms of the injury include a popping sound, the immediate loss of the erection, swelling, bruising and pain.
